    Introduction

The Department of East-West Integrated Medicine was established for the purpose of collaboration between Korean and Western medicine for inpatients and outpatients of Korean Medicine Hospital. Currently, it is in charge of East-West integrated medicine and outpatient clinic, treatment in the severe treatment room and Korean medicine emergency room, as well as Western medicine treatment necessary for inpatient and outpatient care at Korean Medicine Hospital.

The main areas of treatment are Korean and Western integrated medicine and and health promotion, stroke, neurological diseases, etc.

In Department of East-West Integrated Medicine, patients receive not only western medicine treatment by western medicine specialists, but also herbal medicine treatment and acupuncture therapies by Korean medicine doctors, thereby achieving results such as recovery of general health condition and reduction of mortality due to complications.
Due to the dualized medical system in Korea, patients are forced to lose more time and economy if they choose either Korean or Western treatment for their disease. Therefore, this Department of East-West Integrated Medicine presents a model of Korean and Western integrated medicine that allows patients to reduce time and economic loss and to double the treatment effect by simultaneously treating patients with both Korean and Western medicine specialists. In addition, we are also trying and studying various approaches on adult and geriatric diseases such as stroke, dementia, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
