    Introduction

    The Department of Orthopedics consults and treats diseases of the musculoskeletal system, such as the spine, bones, joints, muscles and tendons, and ligaments that are related to posture maintenance and body movement.

    The field of orthopedic surgery is mainly concerned with various diseases and traumas in the extremities or parts of the body. In other words,

    bones, joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, as well as various diseases such as malformations and deformations, inflammation, tumors, and metabolic diseases of the blood vessels, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves that control them, as well as fractures, dislocations, sprains, phlegmon, bruises, etc. responsible for diagnosis and treatment of trauma.

    The Department of Orthopedics, established in 1971 with the opening of the Kyung Hee University Medical Center, started with Asia's first femoral joint surgery in 1975, and in 2021, ranked 13th in the world in the "World Rankings of Orthopedic Surgery" selected by Newsweek, an American weekly magazine.
